Seems like the signal-to-noise metaphor shows up everywhere anymore. It used to clarify things, helping us focus on what matters. Now it gets tossed into decks and posts so casually, it’s easy to forget it was ever useful in the first place.
But the core idea still holds, and even more urgently than ever, because the noise has exploded.
Content is being generated faster than anyone can absorb it. Data keeps piling up, often without context. We’ve flooded the zone with dashboards, benchmarks, and AI-generated commentary—most of it technically accurate, but empty. The result is a kind of dulling effect. Activity gets confused with insight. Visibility gets mistaken for importance.
